Cielo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila was born from a bold and exciting dream—
to bring the true flavors of Mexico, with a modern twist and Latin infusions,
to the community we proudly call home.

Our founders are local Charleston-area restaurateurs originally from Jalisco—
the birthplace of tequila, birria, and some of Mexico’s most iconic culinary traditions.

Cielo is more than a restaurant.
It’s a dream infused with passion, creativity, and deep cultural pride—
a place to enjoy a little piece of heaven,
to celebrate life with the people we love:
friends, family, dates, and everyone who walks through our doors.

During its creation, our founder Antonio Ayala—
whose love for authentic Mexican cuisine shaped every part of this project—
passed away unexpectedly.
But his spirit lives on.
Today, Antonio guides us from heaven… from Cielo itself.
This name carries his memory, his vision, and his heart.
It is a tribute to him, a celebration of his dream,
and a promise to build something extraordinary in his honor.
